Marin Cilic and David Goffin through to quarter-finals at Japan Open

Top seed Marin Cilic secured his place in the quarterfinals of the Japanese Open on Wednesday with a 6-3 6-4 victory over local wild card Yasutaka Uchiyama.
The imposing Croat, runner-up to Roger Federer at Wimbledon this year and former US Open champion, needed just over an hour to complete the defeat in Tokyo.
Cilic, the world number five and semifinalist in Japan last season, hit 14 aces and dropped only four of the 34 points on his first serve as he progressed.
Then he faces American Ryan Harrison, who slowed the hopes of US Open finalist Kevin Anderson from qualifying for the ATP World Tour Finals with a 6-3 1-6 7-6 (7-2) win.
Eighth seed Diego Schwartzman beat Bernard Tomic 6-3 6-1 while fourth seed David Goffin kept his winning run in the first round after raising the Shenzhen Open trophy with a 7-5 and 6 -1 on Feliciano López.
